collage art work fragments of painting and text of the artist 'thePandMe'

Our outside is an inside shaped in a form. Forms are moving. Covered life’s. Frames of limitation. Are you truly seen.

WHAT ABOUT

As an artist and an individual, one question runs through my entire life and creative process. To what extent and under what conditions can we, as humans, transform our inner being into an outer existence? Through the analytical approach to this topic, my work shows the struggle between the inner space and the outer form, between closeness and distance, fusion and dispersion. In my creative process I put layers of experienced realities on top of each other, fragments and narratives, my own and from others, consciously and subconsciously. These fragments end up in a mutually dependent and complex tissue, which flattens out onto the existing medium. My process integrates recognizing, uncovering, reducing, linking a slowly appearing existence of what already exists through sublimation into another reality. Transporting what is not obviously visible to the surface is the intrinsic force of my art process. In doing so, I link psychological and philosophical dimensions of the human being, the dilemma of becoming and disappearing and the causality of this to social-societal constraints and artificially created forms.

WHERE FROM

I grew up in the eastern part of Germany - behind or within the wall. Shaped by authoritarian political and familiar non-critical structures my deepest inner world had to find a different language. Choking of my intellectual being and the creative desert around me pushed me into finding a saved room inside of me. The colors of this inner room I put into a language of art - a painting, a drawing, a text. It’s about questioning, reflecting and diving into a zone of total intimacy. As an artist, I worked “hidden” for over a decade. I never received an academic art education but practice drawing and painting since mid 20. That’s why I consider myself as self-thought or so called outsider artist. My art language has elements of abstract, expressive, but also graphic and street art, as well as Art Brut and Fauvism.

SOURCES

I am a painter for figurative abstraction - I combine traditional techniques such as drawing, painting and printing also with contemporary graphic design. As a painter I love to experiment with all kinds of mediums and create big scale paintings as well as smaller art pieces. Drawings and writing are a daily art practice. I am a passionate traveler. As a lifelong observer of human behavourism I transform my way of being with the outer and inner world into an art language. I refer to all layers that exist in every human and use myself as an example of diving into the human existence in all its depth. For myself there is also a part of resistance in the act of living and working as an artist who refers to analogue processes. A metaphysical process to resist a consumerism society full of disconnection and to relate to a life of intellectual reflection , connection and create works that reflect the physical and mentally participation of the human. An absolute freedom in independent thinking and doing my art is a necessary condition to do the work as I want to create it.
